A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I don't quite get how to handle this situation. Suppose I play an action that asks for several similar targets in the same sentence, like Shiba Aikune xp2 or A Noble End, and that I have exactly the number of available targets in the enemy army as the targets required. Can some of the targets be redirected with cards like Misdirection, Shosuro Aroru xp's reaction or Seat of Power? (obviously supposing the requirements for playing that cards are met).
For clarification, the situation I'm talking about is something like this:
During battle I play A Noble End with a 4PH personality. In the enemy army there are 4 cards: 3 personalities, 1 with a follower attached. One of them is Shosuro Aroru. If I target the 4 cards and the other player reacts with Aroru, what would be a different legal target?
I assume targeting is not sequential for these actions.
Shosuro Aroru xp: Reaction: When an action targets a Ninja at Aroru's location: It targets a different legal target of your choice instead.
A Noble End: Battle: Target one of your unbowed Personalities: Target a number of Personalities or Followers opposing him up to his Personal Honor. Destroy each opposing target with 0 Force. Gain 2 Honor for each card destroyed. Give each opposing target still in play -2F.

In that case, there are no different legal targets, as everything else is already being targeted.
Note that Aroru's reaction is worded differently from the MRP of Misdirection.

I would again like to point out that there is no such thing as "redirection" in Samurai Edition rules. There are just specific cards that allow you to change targets.
I keep harping on about this, because such things can be very confusing for new people who see words or phrases like that bandied about, then go looking for rules about them, and don't find them.
