Entering Play Zone and Shinden Horiuchi

L5R CCG Rules board, 15 September 2007 to 16 September 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Resolution and entering-play areas (out of play; temporary) Says: When taking an action on an Action card, resolving the effects of an Event, or checking conditions and costs of a card entering play, the card in question exists in a special temporary area; face-up but out of play. This is known as the resolution area in the case of an Action card or Event, and the entering-play area in the case of a card entering play.

Shinden Horiuchi Says: Your Spells are considered to be both Spells and Items.

Does Shinden Horiuchi's trait effect what type of card Spells are considered begin when it enters the "Entering Play" zone? If so, may I use effects that produce gold for, or reduce the cost of, Items for a given Spell?

Unrelated: Is there any particular reason I/we can't use Quote BBCodes on this forum?

Does Shinden Horiuchi's trait effect what type of card Spells are considered begin when it enters the "Entering Play" zone?

No. At the time, "your" meant "control." Which means, "paid and in play," not in the process of entering play.

Is there any particular reason I/we can't use Quote BBCodes on this forum?

No idea.
