Adeiko and Soul Jar, Desperate Gambit, etc

L5R CCG Rules board, 14 September 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Adeiko's ability states:

Reaction: After the effects resolve of a battle resolution, action, or trait that destroyed Adeiko or one of your other Personalities: Give a target Personality a -3F/-1C token, and an additional -1C token if he is dishonorable.

If the Soul Jar's/Desperate Gambit's ability or trait kills one of your people, why shouldn't Adeiko trigger?

1. Soul Jar has a trait that says destroy the animated person when the wielder straightens. Adeiko says that a force and chi penalty be given when such things resolve, not if they immediately resolve or resolve later.

Please explain to me the rationale behind Adeiko not reacting to this.

Thanks.
