Re: Death After Life and Loyal

L5R CCG Rules board, 6 August 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 6 August 2007

Rules Glossary Says:

"Loyal

A Personality with the Loyal keyword cannot be controlled by a player who does not share a Clan alignment with that Personality - either by bringing into play or by changing control. "

Now, does it stop checking immediately after it is brought into play, thus letting the aforementioned cards work? Does Loyal continually check itself and therefore even though you could technically put them into play they won't remain in play?

Situation:

We're down to once province each. We each have 2 personalities. I'm Spider, the other player is Lion. I have 2 random Spider clan mooks. My opponent has a random Lion Clan mook and their Clan Champion. I somehow kill the Champion. Then the Lion somehow kills one of my mooks. If I were to play "Death After Life", could it really establish the Lion Clan Champion on my side of the field? Would he remain there?

(D)oes (Loyal) stop checking immediately after it is brought into play, thus letting the aforementioned cards work?

Yes.

You don't discard Followers whose honor requirement is above 0 when their Personality is dishonored, either.
