It implies that the Battle fought through Ambush is conducted outside of the Action Phase, thus allowing Akuma to be targeted during an Ambush.

Am I misunderstanding one or both rulings, or is there a conflict between them? Can Akuma be targeted during an Ambush or is it still the Action Phase, thus making him immune?

Mine only addresses the question of whether Ambush is Action Phase or not; it says nothing about Akuma.
