A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I target Moto Chagatai XP4 with a Test of Courage, can I still use his Battle ability to move to another battle?

I target Moto Chagatai XP4 with a Test of Courage, can I still use his Battle ability to move to another battle?

A Test of Courage says, "Reaction: Before an action moves one of your target Personalities home from a battlefield: Negate the movement. You can not target the Personality with actions or bow him to pay costs (until the turn ends)."

Moto Chagatai XP4 says, "Battle: Even if Chagatai is bowed or has been in a battle resolution this turn: Move him to the current battlefield. If he is now opposed, straighten him."

Chagatai's ability does not target him or require him to bow to pay costs. I don't see any reason why A Test of Courage would get in its way.
