Eastern Hub Port VS Gate Guardsman

L5R CCG Rules board, 3 August 2007 to 26 November 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 3 August 2007

The scenario is the following one:

At a province the player A as a mantis naval personality attacking. That player play Eastern Hub Port. Player B as a unit in defense with a Gate Guardsman.

As his naval action A attach a follower to his personality. Then he declare to take an addotional action with his stronghold.

The question is: When does the player B can declare his own additional action from Gate Guardsman?

As i understand the discussion here: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=59878&p=769187&hilit=taken#p769187

The following would take place: 1) A declare his additional action from a trait but the action is delayed. 2) So B declare his own additional action from a reaction. 3) A take his additional action and kill Gate Guardman 4) B still take his additional action since the reaction already have been triggered even if Gate Guardman are now dead.

But i could be wrong and would like explanation about exactly what is a delayed effect if i didn't understand correctly. Thanks in advance.

Martin Lund (rules official), 3 August 2007

Whenever an effect grants an additional action while another action of the same designator is in progress, the timing of the additional action is delayed until the current action resolves. This makes sure that Battle actions can not occur within other Battle actions, and so on.

I'll see if this can't be spruced up to be a little more clear on the issue.
