Few questions

L5R CCG Rules board, 30 July 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A bunch of my friends started playing (again) this past weekend, and we had a little confusion on the new wording for bowed cards and using abilities.

If a personality is bowed, can you target them with an action card? For example, i have a bowed crane personality at a battle. Can i play The Crane's Strength, which requires me to target a crane personality?

Can a bowed personality use an ability that would straighten them as a result?

All the above assume the card doesn't have a special clarification on it that contradicts the rules in the rulebook.

EDIT: That's what we thought, but we were being told that bowed personalities could do a lot less in SE, and that a bowed personality was basically useless unless you could straighten it

Yes. That's been allowed for some time now.
