Control

L5R CCG Rules board, 29 July 2007 to 30 July 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 29 July 2007

Say I play Control on one of my samurai to lockdown one of my opponent's personalities. Then my personality bows for something and immediately unbows. Do the effects of Control end permanently as soon as my personality bows or leaves play, or are they just "off" while he is bowed or out of play, and come back when my personality unbows/comes back into play?

Martin Lund (rules official), 30 July 2007

An ongoing effect that is applied “while” some condition is true ends when that condition is no longer true, and takes effect again if the condition becomes true within the stated duration of the effect.

EXCEPTION: The condition “while X remains Y” indicates that the effect will not reapply to X if Y becomes true again.

This is taken from the Comprehensive Rules Entry on the Duration of Effects.
