Rule of Location and Ordered Retreat

L5R CCG Rules board, 26 July 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

In looking at the CR, this is what I found about the Rule of Location

The Rule of Location: If a Battle action is on a card in a unit(a Personality or attachment in play), the unit must be at the current battlefield; and any cards in units must be at the current battlefield to be legally targeted by a Battle action. (Emphasis Mine)

So, since the Battle action has to be on a card in a unit to be affected by the Rule of Location, wouldn't I be able to Straighten Anybody I want using the rule of location and Ordered Retreat? Indeed, wouldn't I be able to send home people at other battles to straighten my peeps at the current battle? (Or Send home my peeps at the current battle to straighten other personalities at other battles, etc?)

EDIT: Stupid grammar, always getting in my way *shakes fist*. Thanks!

The sentence after the semicolon is an independent clause. That being said, the straighten effect of Ordered Retreat is not targeted, and so not subject to targeting restrictions.
