Determination versus Determination

Hi !

Here's a tough one regarding Determination. Determination against Determination, to be more precise.

Let's assume I'm annoucing action A (e.g. Ruthless Advance on Hida Kuon), I target my Samurai (e.g. Shiba Danjuro) to play Determination on my action .

Can my opponent : 1) play Misdirection to redirect my Ruthless Advance , making his Misdirection unable to be negated by playing his own Determination 2) play Duty to negate the destruction, making his Duty unable to be negated by playing his own Determination

What happens, does his Determination prenvents his Misdirection (resp. Duty) from being negated by my Determination, or does my Determination prevents him from playing Misdirection(resp. Duty) anyway ? I have the intuition those 2 cases resolve differently, but I can't really justify it by the rules.

As those cards will be also legal in Samurai Edition (with different texts and phrasing), can you also tell me how this is handled in SE ? Or do we have to wait until the official release of the core set ?

Thank you .

Card details (in Lotus)

Determination Dark Virtue Reaction: Before you announce an action, target a Samurai you control at the current battlefield: Other players may not take Reactions to its targeting or effects. If the action destroys a Personality, the Personality is removed from the game.

Ruthless Advance Battle: Pay Gold equal to the target unit's total Gold Cost minus 2: Destroy a target defending unit.

Misdirection Political Gozoku Reaction: After targets are chosen for an action being taken by another player during battle, target a Courtier Personality or Gozoku Personality you control: Redirect any number of its targets.

Duty Reaction: Before a Personality you control is destroyed by another player's card effect, target and destroy an Honorable Samurai you control at the same location: Negate the first destruction.

I'm annoucing action A (e.g. Ruthless Advance on Hida Kuon), I target my Samurai (e.g. Shiba Danjuro) to play Determination on my action. Can my opponent play Misdirection to redirect my Ruthless Advance(?)

It's a Reaction to targeting. No.

Can my opponent play Duty to negate the destruction(?)

It's a Reaction to an effect. No.

Also, note that this answers are for Lotus and may change depending on the finalized text of the cards in SE.
