Daigotsu Kaikou and moving followers

L5R CCG Rules board, 11 July 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I searched the forums and the online SE rules document and didn't find anything on this, so I'm asking here.

Spider Clan • Samurai • Shadowlands Lose 3 Honor. Battle: Target an attachment opposing Kaikou. Transfer it to Kaikou or destroy it.

As an additional restriction on attaching, the Personal Honor of the Personality attaching a Follower must be equal to or greater than the Honor Requirement of the Follower.

Honor Requirement 2. A stat on Followers that is compared to a Personality’s Personal Honor and restricts entering play

Since Kaikou's Battle ability doesn't attach the attachment (it only transfers it to him, and the follower is not entering play), can he can transfer followers with an Honor Requirement higher than his own personal honor?

Furthermore, if this is the case, he should be able to do the same with the various Clan Armors, right? The Lotus swords had an additional effect that detroyed the personality if they were not of a certain clan, but the armors simply say that cannot attach to someone of a different Clan.

Open: Bow one of your attachments: Transfer it to another of your target Personalities who can legally attach it.

They cannot be transfered due to the Share action, because that action specifially says that it can only move to a personality who can legally attach it. Kaikou makes no such restriction, so is he an example of a card's ability taking precedence over the rulebook?

Since (Daigotsu ) Kaikou's Battle ability doesn't attach the attachment (it only transfers it to him, and the follower is not entering play), can he can transfer followers with an Honor Requirement higher than his own personal honor?

No. Rules, Glossary, Transfer: "A player does not need to pay the card's costs when transferring it, but does need to meet requirements and restrictions of attachment." (Emphasis added. Fixed erroneous ruling.)

(H)e should be able to do the same with the various Clan Armors, right?

See announcements -- those are Samurai Edition cards.
