Re: Misdirection + Outer wall or Rapid deployement

L5R CCG Rules board, 9 July 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I do not really understand the answer.

So i will rephrase with an exemple for more clarity:

I resolve a province A where i have 2 units (let's say a and b) in attacking army during the resolution then goes home, where two other units (c and d) wait. I then resolve the province B.

In the province B i have a samourai (e). I play rapid deployement with attention to target e for the cost part then c and d for the effect part.

But my opponent plys misdirection.

I wanted for me to target a and b as the effect target instead. By the text of the card (rapid deployement) they are valid target (they are two units i control that are not at the current battlefield).

But the rulebooks prevent me to move thoose units by any effects in attacking army.

So either:

1) the rulebook prevent the targeting of such units for a movement action, because we know it would contredict the rulebook cannot (and that is very bad).

2) the targeting is permited but the movement just doesn't occured after and the rapid deployement ended doing nothing.

You can only redirect what you could originally target.

You can target something for an action which will have its effects negated.

The rules negate effects moving attacking into battle if they've already been in battle resolution. The rules do not prevent targeting them with actions.
