Duels from Action cards

L5R CCG Rules board, 1 November 2005

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from the Wayback Machine (its copy), so posts it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hello Zen,

from what I read in the rulebook, an action is only discarded afer it has resolved and if it is till in your hand. (Rules page 43). As this is the last sentence in playing actins, from the rules it happens after all effects have happened or all have been negated. So if the action creates a duel, I can get rid of the card by adding it to my focus pool. Either this is a wrong interpretation on my side on the rules or it is not clearly written in the rulebook. Could you please comment on this?

The short answer is you're not going to be able to play a card and add it to your focus pool. We're working on the details, but the most probable solution is that once you announce an action, you can't do anything else with the card until the action's resolved.
