Untested Scouts & Zamalash

L5R CCG Rules board, 21 April 2005

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from the Wayback Machine (its copy), so posts it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I'm not sure if these are really the same situation, but they seem similar to me.

Zamalash:

Reaction: After a Battle, Limited, or Open action on a Personality with the printed Ratling trait resolves: Once per turn, Zamalash performs a copy of the action, paying all costs.

Untested Scouts give you the action:

Reaction: After a battle at the Province begins, play a Terrain from your hand.

Does Zamalash's "copy of the action" include the Limited bit, so that he can't copy a Limited action performed by an opponent's rat, or does he just ignore that?

Do the Untested Scouts give you a Reaction that lets you play a particular sort of Battle action, or do they let you play the terrain as a Reaction? That is, do the Untested Scouts let you ignore presence when playing the Terrain?

Thanks,

Alex

His action is a Reaction, meaning it's legal whenever the trigger resolves, and resolves then, effectively giving you two actions in a row.

Reactions are not bound by Presence (Diamond rules, pg. 80).
