More Immediate Terrains

L5R CCG Rules board, 19 April 2005

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from the Wayback Machine (its copy), so posts it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

No. There's an archived ruling on force bonuses. Everything else is case by case.

Would it be possible to explain how to determine whether an immediate terrain produces a continuing or one time effect? As a T.O. and a player it would be nice if such a basic part of the game was not reliant on "Zen ruled it this way".

You read the specific card text. If that's ambiguous, bring it to attention so a clarifying ruling can be made and archived.

If you want something more detailed, talk to Jeff Alexander about including it for Lotus.

For Dawn of the Empire and later:

Continual effects will use a verb such as "have" and specify "while" the effect applies.

One-time effects will use a more active verb and avoid the word "while", typically using "until" instead.

Instantaneous effects (like "destroy") will be instantaneous by definition, just like always.

Before Dawn, as Zen says, read the card. Most are clear, judging from the low number of questions they generated when they released.
