Shadow's Claw

L5R CCG Rules board, 20 March 2005

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from the Wayback Machine (its copy), so posts it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

So, by going from this ruling on Shadow's Claw, you cannot change the order of the cards when you draw them. Since, if you use S&M, you would have to draw the 'top' (first card you look at). And if you did change the order of the cards, that would be intentionally cheating. (this is important, because a lot of players like to shuffle the cards in their hands).

Also, since it's been ruled that the 'focus' on Shadow's Claw is a 'normal' focus, if you have 3 SC's in your hand, you can react with all 3, there by focusing 3 cards? Focusing 1 card?

If you use 1 Shadow's Claw, and react with a second while you are 'looking' at the 5 cards, do you 'relook' at the same 5 cards, or do you 'look' at the next 5 cards?

If you play 1 Shadow's Claw, and react to it's focusing with a second Shadow's Claw and it's cancelled, what happens to the 5 cards you are 'looking' at?

You'll end up focusing one card.

If you use 1 Shadow's Claw, and react with a second while you are 'looking' at the 5 cards, do you 'relook' at the same 5 cards, or do you 'look' at the next 5 cards?

The cards aren't in your hand, they're still on top of your deck [ML, 22 September 2004], so you'll be looking at the same five.

If you play 1 Shadow's Claw, and react to it's focusing with a second Shadow's Claw and it's cancelled, what happens to the 5 cards you are 'looking' at?

Nothing happens to the five from the first copy, as that action is still legally resolving. I'm not sure how the action of the second could be canceled midway through resolving.
