A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Hi All,
I've recently obtained EE gempukku starter box. Generally after reading lots of different stuff on the forums I got closer to understanding the core of the L5R gameplay, but of course not everything is clear.
Q1 - Can I play Surrounded twice(from 2 cards) on engage step? Like DP Surrounded - AP pass - DP Surrounded - AP pass(Defending/Atacking player).
Q2 - Does Shiba's guidance(or other Kami) enters the field without any costs payed - just from being revealed in a province? And how can it be interacted with by an opponent?
Q3 - What are fire token's on Isawa Mina - analogues of MTG +1/+1 counters?
Q4 - In the rulebook there is an 'Equip battle' for Spells. Does this mean that I can attach any spell during battle or only those that have battle abilities(Bow of water Vs Strength of Tsunami)?
Q5 - What is the purpose of Hiruma Sniper. He has zero Chi, so I would expect him to die once it enters play. What do I miss here?
Q6 - Does bowing a personality bows it's followers? I think not...
Q7 - If other player got higher family honor and takes an Imperial Favor while I control it - do I just lose mine without option to use it?
Q8 - On some forum I saw weird thing, someone said that Proclaim works only once per turn. I do not see anything like this in the rules. Can I proclaim every personality I hire?
Q9 - Strength of Tsunami has Battle: Bow this card and target an enemy Personality: Move him home. If he moved, negate his (future) movement. - Does it mean that Personality cannot be moved back to battlefield by some other effect during this turn? Or this 'future' has wider application for the next tuns too?

Welcome! Hopefully these will help you out.
1. Yes, you may 2. It enters play without cost. A select few cards specifically interact with Celestials; otherwise your opponent cannot interact with it. 3. They're actually more analogous to a +1/+0 counter, although note that the second stat is not toughness (in L5R, Force is generally both power and toughness) but instead Chi. 4. In Emperor Edition, you were able to attach any spell to your unbowed, opposed shugenja in battle. However, this is no longer in the rules, so if you're playing under current rules you'd need a special effect to do so. 5. Hiruma Sniper is a Follower, which means it attaches to a Personality (similar to an enchantment, if I remember my MtG correctly). The 0 for its chi means it does not affect its Personality's chi, but only Personalities are destroyed when they have 0 Chi. 6. Bowing a Personality does not bow its followers. Bowing a "unit" will bow the Personality and all cards (followers, spells, items) in the unit, however. 7. Yes, you lose the Imperial Favor in that situation. 8. Per the CR under "Proclaim" - A player may only Proclaim once per turn and only on his or her own turn. 9. All effects last until the end of the turn by default. This includes Strength of the Tsunami's prevention of future movement; after this turn, move all you want.
