A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I was just wondering on the ability of Aranai's Armor granting Resilient and how it plays out during Battle Resolution.
Aranai's Armor: This Personality has Resilient.
Resilient: "The Resilient keyword means that, once per game per card, the card is not destroyed by the rulebook effects of battle resolution; that is, if its side loses or it ties. Its attached cards are still destroyed normally." (From Comprehensive Rules)
Now the armor itself does not have Resilient, so when your army is destroyed it also gets destroyed. Since the keyword is not given to the personality permanently, how can it prevent the personality from being destroyed? The card would not be attached to the personality anymore since ALL cards gets destroyed simultaneously, NOT consecutively. Destroyed cards immediately have NO abilities or traits because they are removed from play, so how can the item save someone after it gets destroyed?

All cards destroyed by a battle's resolution are destroyed simultaneously, as you point out. However, note that effects, such as the Rules for Resilient, which are triggered before a card is destroyed, are triggered before any of these cards is destroyed.
Thus, the Personality's Resilient keyword takes effect, negating his destruction, before the Armour is destroyed.
