A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
A player, 25 March 2015
This question came up tonight, and whilst we ruled it version A earlier the more I consider the less sure I am.
I announce Relocating The Court when defending. In the pay costs can I
A - pay 2 gold so when I have bowed my courtier that my opponent has to choose the Abbot when he targets his personality? Or
B - I have no opportunity to ever pay 2 gold so my opponent could not target The Abbotveven if he wanted? Or
C - something else?
Thanks Az

If you pay the 2G, the Targeting Paradoxes section makes it so the Abbot must be targeted.
