A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

An interaction that was quite clear to me before Twenty Festivals' rules change was: my A New Alliance vs. my opponent's Final Sacrifice. My opponent had to play it before I chose my two targets, then I had to select his Yojimbo as one of them. In the end, I could hit my most desired target, but not the second most.
However, I'm not sure to have understood how it works under Twenty Festivals' rules: 1) as above (I hope) 2) Final Sacrifice doesn't work at all because targets have already been chosen (unlikely) 3) I have to announce my two choices of targets, then my opponent plays Final Sacrifice and can redirect any one of my choices (weird but hard to exclude from the texts)
---
A New Alliance Political Open: The abilities on two target Dynasty or Fate cards (in play) cannot be used.
Final Sacrifice Interrupt: Target your Yojimbo. The action must target him, if legal.
New rules for Interrupts 3. In the action sequence, required targeting is now chosen after costs are paid but before Interrupts are taken, meaning that players of Interrupts know what an action will target beforehand. Interrupts that say things like “If the action targets a Samurai” refer to this pre-choice of targets. Effects that trigger from targeting, such as “before” or “after” targeting, still trigger when the targeting actually happens in the action’s resolution. Optional targeting (“may target”) is still chosen and carried out in the action’s resolution entirely.

Option 3 is now the correct outcome.
