A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

How does this card interact with cards that cause an honor loss at a later time? Specifically civil discussion. Because with civil discussion there is no static number for the loss. So if I lose the duel we don't know how many units he was going to assign until later. On other example would be kakita jikeru.
How does it work?!

Defend Your Honor sets up a delayed effect triggered when the honor loss is caused. In interaction with Civil Discussion, when you assign, Defend Your Honor's effects would trigger. The loss the other player takes by refusing or losing the duel would be equal to the amount you would have lost from Civil Discussion.
