Re: Isawa Orinoko going to school

L5R CCG Rules board, 11 January 2015

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Just to make sure I understand all implications of this ruling. "set to" can be an increase or a decrease depending on if the value was lowered or not.

Or to give a more explicit example: If I use Plains of Resolution on Hida Ayahi and then my opponent plays Doji Soeka on my Ayahi, nothing happens, because his force would be set to 2, but it can't be reduced due to the effect of the Plains. Is that correct?

Sure, but that's nothing new. "Set to" means "give a bonus or penalty equal to the difference between the old number and the new number". If Soeka was setting Ayahi's force to a number lower than its current total, she was always reducing it.
