Priestly Feud - Errata/Reversal

L5R CCG Rules board, 16 November 2014 to 15 December 2014

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I'm uncertain about the specifics of the assigning requirements of this card:

If it is not the losing player's turn, must the losing personality assign defending against an army? What if the attacker declares an attack, but doesn't assign any attackers? If it is the losing player's turn, under what circumstances is the "must assign his Personality from the duel opposing an army" clause relevant?

1. Yes

2. Then he doesn't have to assign. As the reminder text says, "if possible". If it's not possible, it's not required.

3. No relevance whatsoever, because as #2 above, it wouldn't be possible. REVERSED: See below.

Hi, Following this topic : viewtopic.php?f=59&t=110904 Does that mean, in the third case, the loser doesn't even have to assign the personality? He just have to declare an attack phase?

Hi, I asked a question about Priestly Feud a month ago. Here : viewtopic.php?f=59&t=110904#p1446942 Is it under discussion or has it been ignored ? Thanks

Priestly Feud has received errata, and now reads: Open: If you control one or no Rings, your target unbowed Personality challenges another player's target Personality. Spells and Kihos have +1FV during the duel. The loser must declare an attack this turn (if legal) and must assign his Personality from the duel, opposing an army if possible.

Thus, if you lose the duel: If it's your turn, you must declare an attack. You must assign the losing Personality. If you are the Attacker, you may assign him anywhere. If you are the Defender, and the Attacker has assigned no-one, you may assign him anywhere. If you are the Defender, and the Attacker has assigned to one or more battlefields, you must assign him at one of them.
