So, I recently was told/shown that shugenja trait can be removed from a personality making it so spells that are already attached cannot even be cast. How is it that something like this is even a thing? Especially when it's on cards so common in decks as "Victory through Deference"? It makes me almost not even want to play shugenja at all if it's going to be that easy to get around it.
Removing Shugenja trait
A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

That is currently the way the rules work.
However, as Bryan has stated in his Imperial Assembly article, found here, Shugenja will no longer be a bold-faced keyword with the release of Twenty Festivals, so VtD will lose some of it's influence in the new environment.
