A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

With the change in wording to the journals, since the action that targets the journal unit must be include ninja in the targeting step, how would the use of 12th black scroll interact with the unit. Would the scroll override the journals trait and cards in the journal unit must be destroyed, or would the journals trump the scroll?
12th black scroll
Black Scroll • Unique Attaches to a Dragon Clan Personality ignoring Gold cost. Battle: Even if you do not control this card, destroy this card and discard three cards: Each player with units at the current battlefield must destroy five of his cards there. Move all remaining Personalities home. End this battle without resolution.
Kistuki Kaagi's journals
Unique Cards in this unit may not be targeted with, or chosen as the performer of, actions except by actions that only target or performed by Ninja, or that will attach a card that only a Ninja may attach, even if the target or chosen performer is not a Ninja. You do not gain Honor from duels involving this Personality, battles his army wins, assigning him as an ally, or actions he performs. Reaction: Any number of times per turn, after a Ninja or Kolat action targets a card not in this unit, bow this card: Negate its effects.

The 12th Black Scroll doesn't target anything. There is no interaction.
