To clarify some timing issues, when exactly is the trigger for these for these traits?
My understanding of how Equip works is the following
1. By Good Faith, check to see if a legal Personality is available to target for the Equip Action
2. Announce the Equip Action
Equip
Repeatable Open, (*): Attach an attachment card, with Gold Cost equal to the amount you paid, from your hand to your target Personality.
3. Create "When paying a Gold Cost" trigger window
4. Decide which gold producing traits to trigger and pay the conditional bowing cost to produce gold.
Gold-producing cards follow special rules for their traits that produce Gold. Gold-producing holdings often have traits written as “[bow icon]: Produce X Gold” which is shorthand for the triggered trait, “When paying a Gold cost, [bow icon]: Produce X Gold.” Sentences following this phrase, prior to any other ability or triggered trait, should be read as additional effects of bowing to produce Gold.
5. Decide to close the trigger window.
6. Decide how much gold now in the pool will be used to pay the cost.
7. Remove that much gold from the pool and define that amount as "the amount you paid."
8. All costs of the action are now paid
9. Interrupts
10. Choose an attachment with gold cost less than or equal to "the amount paid." If no attachment can be chosen, the action fails.
11. Target your personality
12. Check conditions for attaching to personality. If conditions fail, action fails.
13. Attach to personality.
14. End action
At no point in the Equip action are you paying for [X]. You are paying a gold cost and later, when the effects resolve, choose what the gold cost has paid for.
I know how these cards should work and am I not trying to "kick the hornets nest." I am trying to build these timing windows into a computer program but am having a very difficult time getting the step by step procedure correct for these cards. Thank you.
