Way of the Crab Opposed Force Bonus

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hey guys,

So, Way of the Crab's wording is "+2 Force while opposed"; does this mean that, after my opponent plays this card, if I remove my presence (thereby making it an unopposed battle), the +2F goes away? Would the ruling be different if it said "if he is opposed" instead?

Thanks!

The +2F is a conditional effect that applies while his army is opposed, goes away if he becomes unopposed, and reapplies if he becomes opposed later in the turn.

If the opposition was a targeting restriction instead, it would be worded "Straighten your target opposed Personality... Give him +2F."
