A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

There is a big deck tournament at Gencon and there are still several issues that need clarification:
How do cards that trigger "after cavalry maneuvers" work now?
The current rules seem to suggest that Reactions now must follow the rules of presence and location. Is this intentional? It would make some abilities unusable (like Asako Chukage).
Movement actions into battles now must follow rules of presence and location, correct? This makes several cards not work (as they can't target anything outside the battle to move it in).
Big Deck games are kind of a mess as is, some clarification on these issues might avoid a lot of issues at Gencon.

These triggers will be applied immediately after the Maneuvers Segment, but before a battle is chosen to fight at.

Reactions do not exist under Ivory Rules, so nothing in the Ivory Rules themselves will impact them. They will be handled using the last rule set that they were played under, meaning they do ignore the Rules of Presence and Location.

As was stated in another Big Deck thread, how Gen Con's Big Deck event will work is, cards will be played as they worked under the rules set they were most recently printed in. If you an your opponent cannot agree with how a card works, you will call a judge. Both Brook and myself will be your judges for Gen Con, and we will explain to you and your opponent how the card works.
Hope this helps!
