Shiryo no Nodotai

L5R CCG Rules board, 8 July 2014

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

The Oracle wording of Shiryo no Nodotai is a drastic departure from the original function of the card. Originally, the ancestor created a restriction against only spells, kihos, and abilities printed on shugenja personalities. The words in Oracle extends the restriction to anything that targets the personality with the ancestor. Is this intentional?

Not intended, no. Just an accidental ambiguity of grammar in the rewording, forgetting the old lesson taught by the poor wording of The Unquiet Gave of Hida Amoro.

Fixed now!
