Shadowed Estate of the Scorpion and card titles

L5R CCG Rules board, 4 May 2014

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Is it required to say exactly card's title to negate its effects from stronghold fe. I have to say "Incapacitated" or maybe i need only to say "A card that begin with "I"that sends home defending personality as Battle action and has 2 FV and a picture of Samurai holding 2 swords"?

The card says "title" and thus you should always aim to use actual card titles. That said, I know we're human and sometimes we can't remember them. In casual games you and your opponents get to decide what is acceptable as a way of naming a card. In tournament games, the judge or other staff members may be able to help you remember the exact card title, if you can't recall it on your own and the opponent doesn't accept your description as a valid "naming".

What is important is, that there must be no doubt or ambiguity in the card you named. But the purpose of the card is to be usable even if you aren't the Oracle of the Void and can't remember every single card title when you need it.

This is more a floor rules question, though, so perhaps you should check this thread or ask there
