So I was mucking around with a new deck and found an odd interaction that I cannot find anything in the Comprehensive rules that say it doesn't work this way so I figured that I would get 100% confirmation one way or the other.
Cards involved: Deep Harbor, Vast Paddy Fields and any other farm holding... I will just use Farmer's Market for the example.
I have Farmers Market in a province and am wanting to purchase it in my Dynasty Phase. Can I use BOTH the Deep Harbour and Vast Paddy Fields in combination to not only have 2g floating in my pool, but also refill the province face up?
Full breakdown of my actions in order: I announce the Recruit action to purchase the Farmer's Market and it goes into the Entering play area where I have to pay costs. I then Bow the Vast Paddy Fields and add 2g to my Gold Pool, however since the text on the card mentions bowing it while I am paying for a Farm, then the extra effect should trigger once the province is empty and I can refill it face up. Before I complete the purchase of the farm though, I then Bow the Deep Harbor and use its trait to make the holding enter play for 2 less gold. So now I can purchase it for 0g and I still have 2g in my available pool.
Does this work, yes or no?
I checked the Comp Rules in these two sections: Entering-play areas (out of play; temporary) When checking conditions and costs of a card entering play, through Equip, Recruit, or other means, the card in question exists in a special temporary area; face-up but out of play.
and also, Recruit Repeatable Dynasty, (*): Bring into play a face-up Personality or Holding from your Province with Gold Cost equal to the amount you paid, paying 2 more Gold if the Personality has a Clan Alignment but does not have your Clan Alignment.
Sometimes, as with Equip (p. 34), “Recruit” is used as an effect in card text. This means that the effects of the Recruit action are activated, and the card’s Gold Cost is checked against the amount paid for the original action. If the original action did not give the opportunity to pay Gold, then before the card enters play, its Gold Cost must be paid or the entering play fails. The original action may modify any of the rules of the Recruit procedure; for example, it may ask you to Recuit a card “from the discard pile.”
I can't seem to find anything that prevents this apart from the feeling that it seems odd to interact this way but that is how the card text is written.
