Daidoji Gensai Questions

L5R CCG Rules board, 27 March 2014

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Daidoji Gensai Force/Chi 2 3 HR/GC/PH 2 6 2 Keywords Cavalry • Crane Clan • Iron Crane • Samurai • Scout Text Home Battle: If Gensai would be opposed, move him to the current battlefield. After he moves, you may discard a card to make a Ranged Attack with strength equal to the card's Focus Value.

Question 1: With Gensai's Ranged attack is there an opportunity to interrupt and increases it with followers, items or unholy strike? If so at what point?

Question 2: Can Gensai's battle action be used to move him to the current battlefield from an unresolved battlefield or does he have to be at home.

Question 1: With Gensai's Ranged attack is there an opportunity to interrupt and increases it with followers, items or unholy strike? If so at what point?

As always, before the action resolves. That means you must interrupt with said actions before you declare that you will discard the card and make the RA, yes.

Question 2: Can Gensai's battle action be used to move him to the current battlefield from an unresolved battlefield or does he have to be at home.

If he is in an unresolved battlefield you cannot meet the Rules of Location (Reference rulebook, pg 15) because the Home keyword doesn't cover other battlefields

Specifically Question 2, in regards to the Home keyword.

This is from Page 22 of the "Ivory Rules Reference Mar 13 2014.rtf" Home (keyword): An ability with the Home keyword may be used during battle even if the card it is on is not at the current battlefield.

I just want to be sure since for me when I read that, that tells me that if the card is at the current battlefield OR any other location that is not the current battlefield, then it is legal to play that action. If that is not the case, then perhaps can we please have that re-worded to be clearer that the card MUST be at Home, not just at anywhere else other than the current battlefield.
