A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

How is this different from this?
For Imperial Summons, I can annouce the action, choose to have this first effect fail and therefore the second effect doesn't happen. But with seeking the way I can't annouce the action, have the first effect fail to have the second part not happen but still gain the 2 honor?
I don't see a difference.

The difference is targets. You can't even announce Seeking the Way if targets aren't findable, because Good Faith forbids you to do so.
