For example, my dude at home has Ancestral Armor of the Unicorn Clan -exp equipped. My opponent tries to send one of my guys home from battle. Can I react?

Interrupts are subject to the Rule of Location, so in the case described, you'd need the Armor to be at the Battle to use its Interrupt.
