If I have a card that lets me use the SH ability twice, like Bayushi Nitoshi xp2, and I name the same card twice, then I can shut down 2 copies of the card, right?
Re: Shadowed Estate of the Scorpion Multiple Uses
A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
You can negate two actions from the same card title (this doesn't need to be from different copies, if the named card has two abilities or its ability is Repeatable...) by using twice the scorpion stronghold's ability. Reversed.
Since the Scorpion stronghold negates the effects "of the next action", the application of one use of this ability doesn't remove the trigger, so the second use of the ability would still be triggered by the same action and thus wasted.
Just to clarify your answer here http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=106715 implies that if I name, say, Ring of Air twice (using Bayushi Nitoshi's ability), that if my opponent doesn't use an action on the Ring until after I have used my SH ability twice , that the next two uses of Ring of Air will be negated. This seems to be wrong given the text on Shadowed Estate of the Scorpion's text which reads "negate the effects of the next action from a card with that title." Wouldn't both negation effects trigger on the first use of the Ring of Air, because that first use would be the "next action" for both effects?
You have convinced me. I found this precedent that says you're right because of that particular wording you bolded so I'm reversing my ruling.
