Is it correct under the new rules, that Searing Siege can interrupt itself for a bigger range attack by discarding two cards?
EDIT: Under the ivory rules, battle actions become interrupts when they boost another ranged attack...
A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Ruling fixed, see below
I saw this previous ruling Searing Siege viewtopic.php?f=59&t=106463
Does this still apply when Gidayu Sensei is being used or does the wording of Gidayu sensei allow searing seige to combine with itself?
After some review, the consensus of the Rules Team is of changing our interpretation of the meaning of "another card".
When combining effects of the Ranged Attack / Melee Attack / Fear types, you may choose as many cards (in the same unit) as you want, but every time it must be a different card, "another card". Each successive combination of effects of the same time must obey the "another card" clause as printed in the Advanced Rulebook. This way we avoid some nasty combinations we have identified, particularly in other formats. We will reverse previews rulings that contradict this interpretation.
Gidayu Sensei allows to override the "same unit" clause but not the "another card" clause.
