So earlier today I got into a friendly debate about whether this guy and Jazz Hands' abilities were traits or actual abilities that could be shut off (via Onich, Denhei's Snake etc etc). He says traits, I say abilities due to the costs involved (bowing and what not). Any clarification would be awesome thanks

You'll recognize abilities because they always have one or more Action designators. In EE the action designators are: Limited, Open, Battle, Reaction, Engage, Interrupt. If any piece of text has one or more of these, it is an ability. If it does not, it is a trait.
