Fury of a Mob vs. Iron Will

L5R CCG Rules board, 12 June 2013

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hi guys!

I couldn't find anything that could directly answer this.. so if this has been answered in the past i apologize. Anyhow here goes.

Fury of a Mob:

Battle: If your current army has more units than the current enemy army, bow your two performing Nonhumans and target an enemy unit: Destroy it.

Iron Will:

Reaction: After another player targets your Paragon with a Battle action performed by a Personality with lower Personal Honor: The action's costs are ignored and its effects are negated. That player may take an additional Battle action.

here's my question. Can Iron will negate Fury of a Mob, if the two non-humans i bowed were say follower tokens from natural aviary or any non human follower for that matter?(attached to personalities with lower personal honor)

Also somewhat loosely related to that after I play Scouting the Pass and target a Personality with two attached followers can i have take Fury of a Mob as my first action? (i mean does it count as the personality performing the action, when their followers perform the action?)

Scouting the Pass:

Reaction: After engaging, if you are the Attacker, choose your performing unbowed Scout at the current battlefield: You have Reconnaissance there. Choose and look at two cards in the Defender's hand. You have the first chance to take a Battle action in this battle, which must be performed by that Scout.

Thanks!

No, Iron Will cannot negate a Fury of the Mob if the performers of Fury are both Followers.

Iron Will checks specifically for a performing Personality, and since there is none in the example you provided, Iron Will cannot be played.

As for Scouting the Pass, it depends.

If one (or both) of the Nonhuman Followers is a Scout, then you can target that card with Scouting the Pass (as Scouting doesn't require you target a Personality card, just a Scout) and then that Follower can perform the Fury of the Mob, even with another non-Scout Nonhuman.

However, to address your more specific question: No, a Personality does not also perform the action his Followers perform, unless he is also chosen as a performer in the constraints block of the action. This means that no, you cannot target the Personality with Scouting the Pass, then have his two Nonhuman Followers perform Fury of the Mob.
