Temporary Vs. Permanent Keyword Gain

L5R CCG Rules board, 8 April 2013 to 9 April 2013

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Somewhat in reference to:

viewtopic.php?f=59&t=100648&p=1326607

In there rule reference it was noted that the target cannot not gain an extra copy of Brash, but it doesn't mentioned if the effect of giving the keyword is negated.

If I first target a personality with Soshi Shinoko's ability and give them Brash (temporary - until the end of turn). Then later that turn try to target them with Out of My Sight! to give them permanent Brash, does the permanent Brash override the temporary one?

Soshi Shinoko Open: Target a Personality: Give him Brash (the Defender may draw a card after a Brash card is assigned to attack).

Out of My Sight! Open: Target another player's Personality: Permanently give him Brash (the Defender may draw a card after a Brash card is assigned to attack).

Note: Not gaining an extra Brash keyword wouldn't be negation but failure

Even though Out of my Sight wouldn't give an additional Brash keyword to the target, the effect would happen. The Personality would be permanently Brash, he'd be it just once.
