Action Ending Timer

L5R CCG Rules board, 5 April 2013 to 8 April 2013

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hi there

its my turn and have a 5/2 personality and 2 other personalities in game. one says: "open: give x +3 Force" the other "open: give x -2F" I use both of them on my 5/2 personality, so he is now 6/2.

End of turn: is he loosing the boni/penalties simultaniously or can i choose in which order he is loosing them. So will he be instant at 5/2 or first at 8/2 or 3/2 depending on my choice?

thx a lot

Usually all ongoing effects that last until the end of turn will wear off simultaneously (unless there's a rare situation in which the order is relevant, which is not the case).

A personality with 3 Chi receives a +3 Chi Bonus, and later receives a 3 Chi malus. Both effects end at the end of turn. It is my turn.

Will the effects end simultanously, or will I be able to choose the order in which they end? Could I declare that the 3 Chi Bonus ends first, making the personality die from having 0 Chi?

I have had to mine through old rulings to make sure I wasn't contradicting previous ones, but I finally found this.

Following that precedent, which so conveniently involves chi death too, I'm going to rule that the effects still wear off simultaneously, and there's no timing point where the bonus is in effect and the penalty is not, nor vice versa.
