I've been reading through aroru's questions (there are tons of them ) and did not find anything that would answer my question so here I go.
While playing Kalani's landing, let's say I have only Aroru in a battle and I'm opposed by whatever, let's say a magistrate. My opponent announces a Stain is cleansed (that oviously is going to target my Aroru at some point), then I react with Kalani's landing (before he chooses performes or targets) and say I will target Aroru, then I use Aroru's reaction, as far as I know it does not matter if I can redirect or not, I think can still use the "Move Aroru to another location" after Kalani's landing reaction resolution, right?
Texts: Aroru Reaction: When an action would target a Ninja at Aroru's location: Choose another of your cards. The action targets it instead, if legal. After the action's resolution, you may move Aroru to a different location.
Kalani's Reaction: After an action is announced, target a card (in play): Give it -2 Gold Cost.
My questions now are: Can I do this? Does Aroru leave before the other player can target him? If yes, What happens with the action my opponent just played?
Thank you in advance.

Yes, reacting with Kalani's Landing, then with Aroru's Reaction, will effectively allow you to move Aroru away from danger before the opponent can choose him as target for his deadly Battle action. This is because Kalani's Landing reacts "after announcing" and gives you a trigger for Aroru, effectively interfering with your opponent's sequence of play. Aroru may flee the battlefield before he is targeted. As a result of your combotastic cunning, your opponent will have his action fail since he's left with no legal targets.
See Interference with required targeting or performing:
From the point when an action is announced in good faith, to the point when a particular required targeting or performing occurs (including reactions "when X would target"), if anything interferes so that a piece of required targeting or performing can no longer be met, the action fails.
Further targeting and performing choice does not take place, the action's costs are ignored, and its effects do not happen. The action is still considered taken and ended, but not resolved, and the ability that created it is considered used. If the action was on a card still in a resolution area (see Announce the action, this page), the card will be discarded normally when the action ends (see Action ends, this page).
