M'Rika and Paneki's Mask followup

L5R CCG Rules board, 17 March 2013

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

If the action involves putting one or more cards into play as a non-optional effect, the player must be able to meet all costs and requirements to bring those cards into play legally, in order to meet the Good Faith rule.

The player using the Mask is aware that the personality being brought into play will be dead before the resolution of the Masks' ability. Therefore, he does not fulfill the section stating 'the player must be able to meet all requirements to bring those cards into play legally', since the Mask will not be able to attach on resolution?

Or can you explain why this doesn't apply here.

The Good Faith rule requires cost be able to be played and a legal Personality be chosen for the attachment. The fact that she dies before the action's resolution just makes one effect fail.
