Hotei's Contentment + Rhetoric 2

L5R CCG Rules board, 10 March 2013 to 11 March 2013

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Greetings This a little related to this http://www.l5r.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=102132&sid=609de84d2b95c11727092ebfa4b85037

From here http://www.alderac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=96689&p=1276863&hilit=rhetoric#p1276863 It Says Rhetoric modifies the gain/loss, it is not the source. So if i rhetoric a proclaim action from my opponent, i gain honor from the opponent's proclaim action correct? Assuming my opponent proclaims a personality with 1-3 PH, would my own hotei's contentment increase honor gain after i use rhetoric on it? I.E 1. I have hotei's contentment in play 2. My opponent proclaims a personality with 2PH. 3. I use my courtier to steal the honor gain from his proclaim action 4. My own Hotei's contentment triggers. I gain 3 honor?

Hotei's contentment says Before you gain Honor from the Proclaim action, if the Personality's base PH is 3 or lower: Increase the Honor gain by 1.

It didn't really say it needs to be from my own proclaim action.

Thanks.

Yes, your Hotei's Contentment can increase an opponent's Proclaim "redirected" with Rhetoric.
