Re: Megumi's Guidance / Wide Valley vs. Chi death

L5R CCG Rules board, 27 February 2013

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I came here on an unrelated question, but answered my own problem through the powers of the search tool. I did some across this thread, however, which is still under discussion. May I ask why that is? From the EE Rulebook's Chi Death Rule: "This destruction for having zero Chi may only be negated or prevented by effects that specifically negate or prevent destruction for having zero Chi."

Neither Megumi's Guidance nor Wide Valley specifically negate the destruction for having zero Chi. Gift Armor, of course, does (because it negates Chi penalties in the first place), although in the example where the Armor is removed, the Personality still dies from Chi death (and from the rulebook rather than an action, so neither other negation would have applied anyway, I don't think).
