Can my opponent destroy the emerald armor with a card like broken alliance since it targets the attachment and not the personality? Would sundering strike work?

Yes, the trait protects the Personality with the Armor, but not the Armor itself.
Would sundering strike work?
Sundering Strike targets the Personality first, so the Armor protects the wielder against targeting him with Sundering Strike.
