Naval and Falling Leaf Strike

L5R CCG Rules board, 17 February 2013 to 18 February 2013

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

At battle 1 I have more naval personalities than the opposing army.

At battle 2 I have a personality with naval.

I declare naval at battle 1. Can I then target the personality at battle 2 with naval and move them to battle 1 with an action, say, Falling Leaf Strike?

If no, could you briefly explain your reasoning.

Reaction: After engaging, once per battle, if you are the Attacker and your current army has more Naval cards than the side opposing it, choose your performing Naval Personality: You have the first opportunity to take a Battle action, which he must perform.

Thanks for your time.

Then I'll say "Yes" so I don't have to explain my reasoning

Reactions such as the Naval rulebook reaction aren't subject to the rules of Presence or Location. The Personality performing Naval can be anywhere in play. As long as you fulfil the clause of having more Naval personalities than the opponent, and the Battle action your personality performs is legal to take, of course.
