Suzume Mukashino

L5R CCG Rules board, 17 January 2013

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

So I saw this as the featured card while browsing through the main site.

Suzume Mukashino 0 2 HR/GC/PH 8 4 3 Keywords Samurai • Venerable Storyteller Text Limited: Bow Mukashino and target a Human Personality with 3 or higher Personal Honor: Bow him. Until Mukashino straightens or leaves play, you may negate his straightening and the target's controller may negate the target's straightening. The next time this game the target straightens, if Mukashino did not straighten or leave play since taking this action, dishonor the target.

Two questions: 1. Can he target his own self? 2. If yes, does he become dishonored after straightening?

Just got really confused with the timing of the last sentence. Thanks in advance

Yes, Mukashino may target himself (tho heaven knows why he'd want to), and if this is the case, he is "the target" for the final clause. The dishonoring is a delayed trigger, and at the time he straightens, he will have straightened since he took his action, and therefore will not become dishonored as a result of his own action.
