I PM'ed Macbeth as the rules for this forum say too on the 3rd of December but still haven't had an update, even just to say that it is under discussion. My question (Discarding Hato-Gurama query) was posted on Sun Nov 25 and just wanting to see if anyone has come to a decision regarding this yet?

Yes, for the reason you cited.
If there is a third, non-duck card in your hand you must choose that one, but the traits on the ducks cancel each other otherwise.
