Kuni wastealnds When bringing a Shadowlands card into play, pay 1 less Gold, or pay 4 less Gold if it is entering play from this Province. The accumulated says: Kuni Wastelands The two cost reductions are not cumulative. [DW, l5rinfo, 11/19/96] Affects all Shadowlands cards played by you. That means Fate cards as well as Dynasty. [card text] The pharse when brining of the stronghold is for they pay. After that, it gets shadowlands, so as a player says, they are not cumulative because it gains shadowalnds awhen coming into play

[20F] does a personality being bowed stop its unit's items or followers from using their own bow effects?
No.
That used to be the case in earlier editions, right? When did it change?
No, it didn't.
pal someone scamed You hard.... was You playing with Scorpion?
I thought it was something like bowed personalities can't take actions (unless specified as performed by bowed) and actions from attachments are performed by the personality
Nope. Transitive performing rules don't have any relation to bowed or unbowed status of the Personality, only actions on the Personality itself.
You may be thinking about how attached Followers originally didn't contribute to the Army Force total if their Personality was bowed, whether they were or not. I can't recall when that changed offhand; maybe SE?
Earlier i think.
Nah, in lotus that was still the case
Ah, just checked and you are both right. š
I learn something new here pretty much every week
In Jade, Could you as open on the other player turn put follower, item, etc. etc. etc.? On your personal's
No. Attaching attachments was something you could only do during your own Action Phase.
[Jade]
Can I still use this if there is only 1 target?
Probably. I'm not in a position to check contemporary Rulings right now, but I don't think the full targeting of two is "required" because you're not the one doing it.
Also, wrong tag. This isn't an [Imperial] question.
Oh yeah my bad I was browsing my cards and it was within the CW cards
Ok thanks!
Is there a link or anything where I can see an explanation of different formats?
Nothing concise that I'm aware of.
Are you familiar with the legality "arcs" of the original game? Gold Edition, Samurai Edition, Emperor Edition, as various examples? Most "formats" played online are just simulations of one particular arc, or sometimes a combination of two consecutive ones.
There are a few other more odder formats, like "Modern" which is only Samurai Edition forward and "Big Deck" which is 80/80 instead of 40/40 (and they're both singleton/"Highlander" formats too, I think). Not much else.
Ok those are some of the main ones I was wondering about, but also what is meant by ivory vs. Ivory extended? Is extended just ivory 1 and 20f?
They were experimenting with changing the arcs and definitions starting with Ivory, so Ivory/20F/Onyx Strict, Arc, and Extended meant odd things unique to those Base Sets.
"Ivory Extended" was technically Green, Purple, Blue bug, but including all of Emperor wasn't really intended, so it wasn't meant to be a played Format. Proper "Extended" by the new definitions came with 20F, where "20F Extended" would be Purple, Blue, Black bugs.
Black bugs printed only I take it?
Well, that's the thing. The definitions only worked while the named Edition was the Current Edition.
"Ivory Arc" was Purple, and "Ivory Strict" was Blue, but once 20F came out, "20F Strict" was Black and "20F Arc" was Blue. You couldn't play "Ivory Strict" just by its bug definition anymore without also pretending that 20F onward didn't exist.
This may also be helpful https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Legend_of_the_Five_Rings
Ok so one last point of clarity, what we consider ivory now would just be purple and blue? I didn't start playing until ivory so I never really saw a rotation or anything
Btw: Why do Emperor and Ivory have 2 bugs?
In a way I can see how it makes sense to have 2 bugs for rotation but thats also why im a little confused about this lol
Ivory and Emperor operated under different arc-legality systems. Some Emperor cards (and all sets prior) had sets that only have 1 bug. Going forward from Ivory, all sets were to have 2 bugs for the rolling "Strict/Arc/Extended" formats I described above.
"Just Ivory" would technically be only purple, but 20F brought a number of Rules/Format changes/improvements such that they're almost always played together, usually in 20F Arc or 20F Extended Formats.
What's the Eternity bug? I don't think I've even seen it
Short answer: A bad idea.
Long Answer: It appears they wanted to add more "value" to their expensive and frequent Direct to Player sets, so in Forgotten Legacy DtP, which was dual CE/EE legal, they marked a few of its exclusive cards with this additional 3rd bug and promised those cards would always be legal, in every arc going forward (hence "Eternity").
Of course, this caused them to have to nerf the sh out of most of them with promo MRPs come Ivory, where the power scale was nowhere near that of CE/EE. š
Have you checked (link) and DropBox link. It should answer all of your questions (in specific files).
Like Ivory/20F tournaments legality is in Tournament folder and in Floor Rules there.
Yeah i was looking through it its a great resource thanks a lot guys I really appreciate the help
[Jade]
Can it destroy a bowed Personality?
No. In Jade, you can't target your own bowed Personalities with actions, and that action targets.
[Jade]
Can I copy a Personality that has Kitsuki Kaagiās Journal attached?
No. The Egg targets.
Thanks for the quick responses!
Corollary: Egg canāt copy one of your bowed personalities.
I assume also [Jade]? If so, correct.
It is a corollary on the original question that was already [Jade]
[Jade] Can a non-ninja character with Kitsuki Kaaagi's journal attach a Night Medallion?
Yes, you can, since it targets a Ninja.
[Imperial]
Will the Egg copy inherit the Utter Defeat trait, like the 1 honor loss per turn, etc?
Yes. Clarifications to Egg indicate that it copies current ongoing permanent effects on its target, which would include the effects of Utter Defeat.
[Open]
Oh so I can equip Bayushi Togai with Poison Dartgun for free if he has the Journal attached? @Brook Cunningham Not sure if you remember my question from way back haha
Also for [Imperial]
If my Goshiu-exp (overlayed) is dead in my pile, can I target the Basic version with Return of The Fallen Lord?
No. If you already controlled that Unique card, you could not bring another copy into play.
I d say you can
Yes, BUT... not in [Jade] or [JadeEx]; Togai isn't legal in those formats. So, only Open/Legacy.
Oh okay. got it.. but in our custom format Old Border Only it's legal... š
I think "no" may be the answer, but the explanation for your answer makes no sense. :/
a player, I am looking into it. The non-Exp Goshiu may not be considered a separate card anymore, and/or it may not count as "dead", but I'm not 100% sure?
Yeah, in Jade Rules, they clarify that the underlying card is RFTG if the overlayed "stack" leaves play. With nothing clearer in the SCC Rulebook, I think it should probably act the same way in Imperial. Note, though, that the Exp Goshiu will still keep the underlying one's ability when you bring him back. You just need 1 more "Chi" of Shugenja for the Fallen Lord Ritual.
Whoa cool I did not know that it keeps the underlying ability, that's actually better imo
They removed the inheriting of Abilities via overlaying in Emperor Edition, for greater ease of bookkeeping, but before that, it's still a thing.
On a related note for [Imperial], does the Chi of the one holding the RItual count towards the required number?
Nope. He bows and dies separately from the count towards the Chi.
Same with Feign Death I assume?
and one of my pet cards... A Greater Destiny?
Yes, same principle.
Yes, although only for Imperial through Diamond, not in most/all Legacy Formats, because from Lotus onward, cards that go face down and out of play, such as back into the deck, don't retain any memory of effects upon them, like inherited abilities from overlaying.
Cool
[Imperial]
When a Personality with Utter Defeat effects die and I bring it back with Feign Death, does it still have the UD effects?
I can't find a contemporary Ruling on the matter, so I think "while they are alive" should be considered a fixed, ongoing duration that ends when they die, just like the SE reprint that explicitly states "while they remain in play". Thus, dying would end the effect, and using the Imperial Feign Death would bring the back without it (though they would still be dishonorable).
[Jade] : Does the SH have to be unbowed to use the reaction ? Can i use the reaction when recruiting the personality with the SH ?
In this version it's explicitly mentioned...
Yes, it has to be unbowed. No, you can't do it while Recruiting; it's just a cost reduction while Equipping normally, not anything further than that like sequence breaking permission.
This was a printing from a Learn to Play set, where some understood things were made explicit to be easier for beginners.
But i could pay the rest of the reduced cost for the follower using the SH ?
Yes.
Producing Gold and the Reaction have the same timing trigger, "when paying", so take the Reaction first while the Stronghold is unbowed, then bow for Gold for the now-reduced cost.
[Jade]: I did not find a Jade Version of her. But according to https://oracleofthevoid.com/#game=l5r,#cardid=5097,#cnprintingid=1 she is legal in Jade(Ext) ?
She's legal in Jade. Oracle does not have a Jade Ex legality marker.
For most of the time that Jade Ex was a contemporary format, she was also legal in Jade Ex. However, the last published Floor Rules contemporary to that time removed the Rule from Jade Ex format that made her legal. If your TO is following those Rules for their Jade Ex tournament, she is not legal.
In our JadeEx event you need to follow this: (link)
So if there exists a printing of such card with Jade bug, its legal. Not all cards in SnM database may link to such version but you may include any version and play it as specific Jade bugged version.
š
Hi, can i use a Nio Sensei with Spawning ground stronghold, as my Starting honor will drop to -20
?
[3D] Akodo Yosuke seems quite powerful. If he is defending and the attacker uses Naval, does Yosuke's controller get the first battle action (ie beating Naval)?
assuming [jade] rulings this won't make you lose and I doubt they ever reversed it
Yes, the standing Ruling is that -FH Sensei will not cause Shadowlands Horde to auto-lose.
Assuming Yosuke's "Engage" is used after the Naval Rulebook Engage ability, then yes, the later "you have the first opportunity to act" from Yosuke overrides the previous from Naval.
Thanks, seems very good then
It's a significant upgrade over the original "Soul" card, which was quite powerful itself but could only be used on the Attack, not while Defending.
[Imperial]
Is this one big honor loss?
If you suffer multiple losses of honor simultaneously, you do not merge them into one big loss. Each lossmust be dealt with individually. [summary of other rulings]
1998 accumulated rulings
and a player Note that this isn't the case under more modern Rules than [Imperial]. Once L5R got on the "Comprehensive Rules" train, "X for each Y" was clearly defined in them as a single X effect (multipled in value by Y, of course), not multiple Xs.
thanks
[Jade/Legacy] : When i play with "The New Akasha" and use "Oath of Fealty" (either in Jade(Ext) or Legacy) do crab personalities lose the +1F/+1C bonus from the SH, as they are not Crab anymore ?
yeah in either format they would lose their original faction traits and thus lose any benefit you would get for them being crabs since crab is a faction trait
jade lists some exceptions for like ninja or monks swearing fealty but crab clan is just crab clan
[Imperial]
When I use the ability copied by NSS, is it considered a Ninja action?
Yes.
Appreciate the good taste of showing the Imperial version of the cardš§āš³š
The Ron Spencer art is really great... or were you specifically praising the gold trim on the border? ;P
Both + old card template. Perfection.
[Open/ legacy]sorry if this is a silly question, im curious how the governor's estate (stronghold) interacts with the ninjutsu traint on alot of ninja cards, can you still use ninjutsu if you put them into play with the strong holds ability, and if you bring them in with the 4 cost from ninjutsu do they become both and holdind and a 2/3 personality, i tried looking some stuff up about it but it isnt clear how the cards interact with each other
https://images.oracleofthevoid.com/l5r/9b/d7/printing_8106_1_details.jpg
Format tag please. I believe its something really niche as Emperor era Legacy draft as this Stronghold (and any other Draft Strongholds) are banned in nearly every Legacy/Open format.
(link)
As Kempy said, this is a pretty niche. If you're Drafting Diamond/Lotus era cards but using the Emperor-era Draft box instead of the contemporary Nanashi Mura... I'd just kinda decide among yourselves how it should run? :/
in the legacy rules for ninjutsu it specifies that the ninjutsu rules only are in effect if there is an ability that allows at least one player to look at the face down card with ninjutsu (probably shiro no soshi) I'm sure it could be possible to create a convoluted situation to get around this but i think basically you would have to have Shiro no Soshi and The Governor's Estate as your stronghold at the same time somehow otherwise this just probably would never come up
Ah, thanks. I didn't remember that particular added clause in the Legacy Rules.
a player So, there would be no interaction, unless you're playing some odd mix wherein you have a Governor's Estate with Ninjutsu Personalities in it, and one of your opponents is playing Shiro no Soshi. But again, as I said above, if you're that far outside standard play, at that point you can just decide amongst yourselves as players.
Thanks for the replys, i normally play open with my local group and ive been playing a ninjustu deck lately and i saw the stronghold and thought it was a weird interaction, i didnt realise those strongholds wernt ment to be play outside of a draft format, (i didnt play at the time they were printed) so i was wondering if there was rulings on those sort of interactions.
[Imperial]
Can this Stronghold ability negate/nullify Deadly Ground?
Yes.
Absolutely
Why does it override the Deadly Ground ability? Since negating isnāt destroying the terrain
The timing is a bit unclear, but it's intended to negate any Terrain before the Terrain takes effect.
Deadly Ground takes effect immediately upon being played, so the SH Reaction is like faster than the DG taking effect immediately
The Gold Edition Stronghold wording and GE Terrain mechanics make the intended interaction clearer. My understanding is that this didn't effectively change the way they always interacted.
the other day i have doubts about a couple of card interactions in legacy:
When i activate first Bayushi ability agains a player with o-ushi sensei, can he change the stat to force? Is first Bayushi ability only permanent on him?
And the second question is about interaction between this two cards. When i use a martyr against a crab personality that have killed my personality he used an Imperial command to redirect it to Jinn-Kuen, and payed 2 gold to negate the action effects, is that legal right?
No. "Checking" a stat is when an effect looks at a stat and produces an effect based on the value of the stat, not when it affects the stat directly.
Not enough information. How did the first Crab "kill" your Personality? Was it via Battle Resolution where Jinn-Kuen was also present in the army? If "no", then Jinn-Kuen is not a legal target to redirect Martyr to. If "yes", was the first Crab Unique? If "no", then Imperial Command cannot be played at all.
And is Bayushi second ability only permanent on himself and until end of turn for the rest?
was a duel from benjiro
And can you make an example of that?
thanks
Correct.
Then, even though Martyr targets, it can only target Benjiro, because only Benjiro killed your Personality. Jinn-Kuen is not a legal target for redirection.
Lovely thanks for your answers
So, o ushi sensei can change a Testo of Honor to a Test of āStrengthā, right?
Correct. That was my go-to first example. And she changes Chi duels to Force for her player (but I had to Oracle some clarifying text onto her for that based on contemporary rulings, as a duel isn't exactly a direct "check"). I was looking for more, but hopefully you understand?
I guess
Check as in compare, I imagine
Right, but only as effects, not targeting; so it's kind of niche, mainly for duels and a few other things. Like, if the targeting requirements are specifically looking at Chi, you can't change that and have the targeting fail or make them pick something else. O-Ushi doesn't affect anything until after targeting has already occurred.
So it does not prevent Hida Amoro from being kolat mastered/assassined
Correct.
Before the resolution of another player's card's action that targeted one of your Personalities: Each time it checks your Personalities' Chi or Personal Honor, you may have it check the Personality's Force instead. After your Personality enters a duel, if the duel was from another player's card's effect: You may choose to have your Personality use Force as his duel stat in that duel. You will not gain Honor from duels.
So why it doesn't stop Kolat Master?
because the targeting has already occured and the target was already leagal.
the diff with ToH is that despite the target being legal, on reolution it is targeting strength so likely it will fail
is that not the same as a range attck?
what do you mean=
6F peep get's targeted with a 6RA reaction to the range attack Sun Setting Strike get's played now the peep is 9F ra hits but fails to kill the peep
Sensei even with the new wording says "Before resolution of another player's"
no because kolats are targeting requirement and ranged are checked on resolution against the strength
exaclty before resolution but after targeting
it already fulfilled the targeting
you are switching before resolution
yes
but kolat actions say target a personality with X chi that s on targeting
then once target is said on resolution you kill/strewl
ranged on targeting has non constraitns you can target a personality of strength 10 with a ranged attack of 2
yet, on resolution it will fail
to be honest it makes no sense the way the sensei is written even with the new wording and you say that it still can stop KM
I'm kind of there as well. I was going to argue that it stops it, but I can't quite see how. The "printed wording" would make O-Ushi Sensei stop KM, as an example. From what I recall, that's how it was played back then, but my memory on that is fuzzy, and nothing in the Accumulated Rulings talks about it.
The problem is that sensei say before resolution of the action
It was a Legacy question, anyway. It might've been different contemporarily, but I don't think so and can't find any contradictions in contemporary Rulings.
Ok but do you see where the issue is? @Brook Cunningham
but isn't it supported by the Jade rulesbook? What I understand is that first you target then resolve the action. So, resolution happens when the action resolves and the sensei explicitly says before resolution and that is after targeting happend and all the requirements have been met
does that make more sense a player ?
nope
again the targeting is not the problem
But if the targeting is when the target requirements are checked and met or not which is a stage before the resolution of thea ction stage and in that stage o ushi has not even checked the card. And targeting has been legal, how would it fail on resolution?
retroactiveloy going to target and making it fail?
in those 2 paragraph doesn't tell me if I can react
React with what?
What we have been talking about the O-Ushi sensei
O ushi sensei does not react is a static ability that check before resolution
0th pay costs 1st targeting 2nd resolution
In the middle of 1st and 2nd happens O ushi sensei check
I'm a little busy to try and weigh in, but ego is doing a good enough job.
Just at of curiosity What are you thinking if KM get's played and I apply the sensei?
What do you mean?
If I play KM on a legal target and you apply sensei, the Kolat master will successfully resolve regardless the strength of the target personality
What do you mean with what am I thinking?š¤
Nvm all good
Yeah o-ushi says before resolution. On the orcacle side for KM and KA there is a ā:ā so the targeting and checking already happened before resolution. But if you go as the base card wording the checking and targeting happens during resolution.
[Imperial]
Does the ability or stat it last copied get removed before the new duel starts?
i would say yes by the phrasing
Yeah, including the MRP clarification as well as the overall template rewording.
The moment it issues a new challenge using that ability, the previously-copied stat/ability is wiped.
Thanks
[OBH] Does copying a personality that has madness tokens and Force/Chi tokens with Egg of P'an Ku copy the tokens? And if it doesn't copy the tokens, does the copy have the unmodified or the modified stats?
In legacy, no tokens were copied as they weren't on the card. The Stat copied will be the total when the tokens modifiers were calculated. The effects of Tokens that only lasted for a time weren't taken into account.
If you are playing Jade Extended is Rise from the Ashes a political Action? When you read the card in Oracle it says political
Yes. That was a contemporary ruling/clarification.
From JE rulebook:
Beware those Enough TalkšØ
thanks
I'm trying to remember how the yu works on the Crab card. Is it when a Personality dies is when he/she can kill other personality?
New Shattered Empire/3 Dynasties Yu, or old Gold/Diamond era Yu? Please tag your questions with "[Format]" at the beginning of them.
The Legacy Rules for Yu are thus:
"Yu is a keyword that represents harming your opponent even if it means your death, and is followed by a numerical value.
If one or more cards with the Yu keyword are in a losing army during Battle Resolution, each may destroy an enemy Follower, or an enemy Personality without Followers, that has Force less than or equal to the losing cardās Yu value. Multiple cards may also combine their Yu values to destroy a single card, but one card may not split its Yu to destroy multiple cards. This occurs after determining the battle's outcome but before destroying the losing side. Destroying cards in this way does not alter the outcome of the battle, and it does not earn the loser any Honor. Using the Yu keyword is not an action, and is not targeted. The Attacker or Defender makes all decisions for all Yu values in his army, and can use the keywords in any order.
When giving a bonus to the Yu value of a card that does not have the keyword, give the card Yu 0 before receiving the bonus, which remains for the same duration as the bonus (this is a change from the earlier rule that gave Yu 0 permanently)."
Okay. Thank you for your time.

[3D] Is the force of the dragon created by this personality zero?
- creates a "Dragon Channeler", not a "Dragon" - unprinted values for created cards are 0 by default, so yes, 0F/2C
Got it, thanks
[3D] I have a question regarding the recon mechanics. What does it mean to have recon? Is there some effect that gives you recon? Or having a scout personality is enough?
To answer the second question first: You "have Recon at a Province's battlefield" if you have targeted the Province that turn with an action that has the "Recon" keyword.
What that means is there are certain other actions or traits that check if you have Recon or not at the time they are taken or resolve.
Does the recon survive after a phase ends? For example, if I target a province in the open Phase, during the battle phase the game remembers that I have recon?
Yes. All effects last until the end of turn unless otherwise explicitly stated.
Thanks!
[JadeEx] How the hell does this resolve? Does the dragon guy die before the duel can continue? Or does the effect of the focused card apply before it takes effect?
like, he's gonna die after the duel regardless, but, during the duel, is the focused card considered to add to his chi?
accumulated rulings 2000: Note that cards focussed in a duel add their focus values to Chi immediately upon being played. [Emerald Edition rulebook] This means Poisoned Weapon no longer instantly kills low-Chi Personalities regardless of their focussing. [REVERSAL]
I was able to find that.
what is the tricky part here then?
well, I didn't when I posted the question, and it took me a bit.
oh well nevermind then
i hadn't checked to see what all the cards in the screenshot were so I thought there might be more to this
[3D] Just double-checking. For the Crab's Stronghold: no matter if I negate the shadowland part, my targeted personalities will always get dishonored in the end, right?
For the Unicorn's stronghold: If I have 2 personalities, one with 2 attachments and one of zero attachments, can I send both to an empty battlefield despite the opponent assigning personalities to defend?
1. No. If you do not choose to negate the Shadowlands part, they will not be dishonored.
2. I think your question is missing some parameters? But I'll try to answer: The Personalities you may Assign in Cav Maneuvers to empty battlefields must be Scouts and each must only have 1 or 0 attachments.
follow-up questions: 1) If I choose to negate the shadowland part, only the one I target would be dishonored right? (assuming both of them are honorably personalities)
2) What does it mean cav units led by a scout with one or no attachments? I thought it meant that at least one of my units should fulfill that condition (considering that unit as the leader of my army)
1. You don't "target" them, you just choose which to negate the effect upon, and then yes, only the one(s) you chose would be dishonored. Also, no "assuming"; you are only allowed to choose honorable Personalities.
2. No. Only units that fulfill that condition may assign. The entire army is not "led", individual units are "led" by their Personality.
Ok. got it. Thanks a player I got both Strongholds wrong... you might want to check this
[3D] Does that terrain negate the PS bonus from Bamboo Harvesters?
Not exactly. The bonus is still there, but the maximum value is figured last.
It's similar to the scenario where an effect removes force bonusses from tokens, right?
No.
Applying a maximum or minimum does not directly affect current bonuses or penalties. Rather, it adds a new step to the equation:
(Printed +/- bonuses/penalties), apply min/max
@everyone There's new feature in Oracle. Cards got links to rulings from various FAQ documents.

This feature is kind of beautiful too, keywords have hover text rules info.

Thanks all. I wasn't sure how long that update to several thousand cards was going to take so I fell asleep before it was done and missed making the announcement.

I have Regions of Rokugan revealed in my rightmost provice. I use it to go fetch Plains of Otosan Uchi and attach it to my rightmost province.
Do I reveal the second card placed I placed on the āsecond subprovinceā of Plains of Otosan Uchi in that same turn?

But in Lotus you could.
Yeah, that's the MRP, though. Might have been different in contemporary Jade.
That might have confused me.
So in the context of Jade: noš¤
In the context of Jade, no one has given you an answer yet.
It would take some looking up I haven't done yet.
Nice this is really great
Jade Edition rulebook: refills are always face down - p. 32, Events Phase: after an Event resolves, "the empty Province is filled with a new card from the Dynasty Deck, which is placed face down in the vacant slot. [p. 15](<https://oracleofthevoid.com/#game=l5r,#rulebook=jade,#page=15,#find=replaced%20by%20new%20face-down>)
I'm pretty sure it was that way until lotus wackiness
the p59 is probably the smoking gun.
So it's just a matter of specific Diamond and Lotus versions that contain info you may refill in order you want. Pre Diamond Plains doesn;t have such info. And Emperor one got completely new wording too.
[Imperial]
If the NSS copies Kachiko's ability and all used on a Personality and it's not enough to kill the Personality and the turn ends, do the Seduction tokens given by the NSS get removed?
Kachiko also used her ability on the Personality
Before pearl, no. Then it was Open: Once per turn, the Ninja Shapeshifter can copy the Force, the Chi, the Personal Honor, or one ability of any one Personality in play, until the end of the turn. All tokens created by a copied ability are destroyed at the end of the turn." [MRP, Pearl Edition] but if both targeted the same personality, all seduction tokens are removed when kachiko straightens or is destroyed, because all af them are seduction tokens
Ok as long as Kachiko is in play, Seduction tokens won't get removed even though NSS stops having the ability at the end of turn? In Clan Wars/ Imperial
Yep
They disappear even if the NSS targets another personality, because it says all tokens , not all tokens in that target
Sorry I'm a bit confused
When kachiko straightens or is killed, all seduction tokens are destroyed. It doesn't matter who creates them or where they are are
The destroyed part was added in obsidian eads, "Bayushi Kachiko 0F/2C -HR 10G 1PH Scorpion Clan Seductress. Unique. Limited: Bow to put a -1C seduction token on any Personality. Add a seduction token each turn she chooses not to straighten. If Seductress straightens or is destroyed, all seduction tokens are removed. May remain bowed." [MRP, Obsidian Edition
So if you play clan wars and kachiko is destroyed, the tokens stay.
Obsidian is also under Clan Wars though
Then consider that the text in kachiko. Not an expert in formats
Sorry just saw a Ruling on Copying Only the copied ability itself, tokens created by it, and effects whose durations depend on the originating card (for example, "until this card straightens") disappear at the end of the turn. Non-token changes with set durations (like "permanent" or "until your next Straighten Phase"), changes in state (bowing, destruction, etc.), and changes to Family Honor persist normally. So I think the Seduction tokens created by NSS is removed end of turn. Sad...
Then so it is. Probably the errata on NSS was to write this rule in the card
I need to reread a lot of rules..
Just a general question. Can one play open during the battle action? Like for bring in the vold ring. 'Legacy"
That used to be the case for certain Editions, but later, it was not. The updated text in the Oracle of the Void lists all printed "Open" actions that could have been taken during Battle also in the more modern "Battle/Open" format.
OK, was double checking. thanks
[3D] If all the enemy personalities are dishonorable, can I still use this card to draw one card at the end of my turn?
Yes. There are no costs to the action, only effects, and some effects of an action can fail while others do not, unless they are linked by the word "to" (as in "do X to do Y").
Thanks!
[3D]: Is that correct or a typo ? Do we have to keep track if a weapon was discarded from hand or destroyed from play ? Or is both meant with it ?
Discarded means in your discard pile
Only Personalities are "dead" or "discarded" as two different states in the discard pile, no other card types.

20 festivals, cavalry is a player action so only one unit can move using the cavalry action each turn. Please tell me that's wrong š¤
Yes, its once per turn player's ability.
Same for 20F naval.
That is correct for 20 Festivals and Ivory Edition, as well as the fan-continuation Arcs Onyx and Shattered Empire.
Geez. Guess that's fair. I'm gonna have to improve a lot to make up for that.
The next, new fan continuation set/Arc that was just released days ago, "3 Dynasties", returns to a more traditional Cavalry mechanic with 2 Maneuvers Segments, but some additional restrictions on the latter.
[3D] Can I use this if the personality is destroyed at battle resolution?
Yes
Follow up question: Does it happen before or after the province is destroyed?
After, as technically the army and province are destroyed simultaneously
[3D] What happens if I declare Naval against a personality who has this weapon attached?
The trait triggers and reverts first Battle action to your opponent
Thank you! a player you were right
for as much good as it did me š
[3D] If the personality targeted by him doesn't assign in that turn, the personality still is dishonored if they assign in the following turn?
No. The effect only lasts until the end of the turn. It would have to say, "After the next time the target assigns this game".
Got it, thanks
@Brook Cunningham Don got hands on my shattered backup of AEG forum rules 2007-2015 so they should be in Oracle soon. Probably no more forum pages screenshots from me š
yeah, looks like i was able to pull about 9k rulings from it
going to attempt to have the bot sift through applicability automatically
also pulling 3k rulings from this channel.
i'm guessing there's a lot of overlap, so we'll see how it can condense it.
related: I ran a claude PRO, then claude MAX out of tokens this week.
[3D] Sorry if this was ask already, does bamboo harvesters counts as part of the deck_ or we need to have 41 dynasty cards?
41
Bamboo Harvesters works for peeps going second

Iāve seen Utter Defeat had an erratum in SE of ābeing destroyed at ballte resolution.
Just checking this was not like that under Jade rules, wasnāt it?
In Jade you could Utter Defeat a character being killed say by a ranged attack during battle. Am I right?
Also, I cannot Utter Defeat a character dead by Wedge (same [Jade] context), correct? As Wedge kills after the battle not at battle and even though if it were in battle I couldn āt target. Where as I can Feing Death (since the 2004 ruling wonāt apply)
The SL printing says "by a duel or battle". It does not say "during battle" but "by a... battle", therefore it seems that the original could also only react to Battle Resolution, which is the only time a "battle" itself is destroying the Personality. The SE MRP is clearer, but I do not think it is a "change".
[3D] If a strategy targets a courtier, does the trait of this stronghold work by targeting a Magistrate in the same location or the strategy must target the courtier for the trait to work?
The Strategy action must be checking your Magistrate's Personal Honor. You may then switch that check to Chi. Does that help?
Yes, it does. Thanks!
Just to be super clear, the trait also works if the strategy creates a duel using PH?
Yes.
[Imperial]
Since they have the same timing window: If after focus cards are revealed and the active player has the first prio to play PW, and the Chi is still 3, can the other player still react with the Yoshi ability or the PW will kill the personality? Since PW says minus 3 to CHI and not FV
Even though they have the same timing/trigger, if played first, the PW will fully resolve and kill before the opportunity to React with Yoshi.
In this case, the Active player gets to react first, right? Active meaning itās their turn or cos itās their action that initiated the duel? Hope that makes senseā¦
Active means the player whose turn it is. I'm not actually sure if that is the same Reaction priority for contemporary Clan War/Imperial though? Can't quickly look it up right now, but you could! All Rulebooks are now in the Oracle!
[3D] Silk and Shadow Palace: - with Honesty: at less than 9 Honor: Does it then gain honor equal to printed Chi or does the trait overwrite it with current Chi?
- with Strength of the Divine: Can the trait be used to give the personality +2 Chi instead of +2 PH
Imperial was active player gets first shot
1. Printed Chi. The Stronghold only substitutes "Chi" for "PH". Nothing alters the preceding "printed" adjective.
2. No, giving a bonus to a stat is not "checking" it. The Stronghold can however have it check Chi for the MA.
it was not uncommon to have "start a duel and murder them" in non-dueling decks in imperial.
[3D] Just to be 300% sure. If I target my courtier with Storm Heart, the Stronghold's trait would be useless since my personality is not a magistrate, right?
Correct.
Thanks!
